Neonatal Leave April 2025 – The neonatal care (leave and pay) act 2023 will come into force on 6 april 2025, introducing statutory neonatal care leave (sncl) and statutory neonatal care pay (sncp) for new parents. Following the neonatal care (leave and pay) act 2023 receiving royal assent on 24 may 2023, the new legislation will come into force on 6 april 2025 and will apply to england, scotland and wales. To qualify for sncp, employees must have a parental relationship with the child mirroring the ncl eligibility, 26 weeks' continuous service at the relevant date, and earnings not less than. The act will provide additional leave and pay for parents of babies who require neonatal care, with a right to up to 12 weeks' leave and pay.

Ncl will apply where a baby is born on or after 6 april 2025, receives neonatal care starting within 28 days of birth and goes on to spend 7 or more continuous days in.
